Co-Owner & Manager Orla LaScola
Orla Murphy-LaScola is co-owner and general manager of American Seasons, where she oversees the development of the wine list and the menu of signature cocktails, in addition to all front-of-house responsibilities.
Orla first developed an interest in the world of wine and spirits as an undergraduate student in Ligneres, France where she worked as a tour guide for Pernod Ricard in their Cognac facility. After graduating from college with a degree in journalism, Orla moved to Nantucket and took a job at American Seasons to support herself while interning with the local paper.
While working at American Seasons, Orla met future husband Michael LaScola who worked in the restaurant’s kitchen during his summer vacation from the CIA. Orla left Nantucket for a brief stint in public relations in New York City, but returned to Nantucket and American Seasons when former owner Michael Getter offered her the position of assistant manager in [year??].
In 1997 Murphy-LaScola returned to Ireland to pursue an advanced degree in wine; the following winter she attended culinary school and, in 1998, Murphy-LaScola was named general manager. She and LaScola were married in Ireland in 2002; two years later, the LaScolas bought the restaurant and added an intimate and now extremely popular bar area that features a menu of Orla’s cocktail creations.
